Meet the Spider-People of Into the Spider-Verse With New Character Posters

(Source: screenrant.com)

New character posters for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse give an in-depth look at the various Spider-People. Spider-Man has been around since the 1960s, and often been at the center of animated movies and TV shows. Spider-Man has starred in animated series such as Spider-Man: Unlimited in 1999, The Spectacular Spider-Man in 2008, and most recently Spider-Man in 2017. Now, Sony has crafted an all-new animated Spider-Man adventure, set to release in less than a month.

News of the first ever animated feature-length Spider-Man movie began in 2017. The film will revolve around parallel dimensions, opening up the possibility for Miles Morales to interact with several different web-slingers in the Spider-Verse. Based on the trailers and announcements for Into the Spider-Verse, Morales will be the main focus of the film, while characters like Peter Parker (Jake Johnson), Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas Cage), Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), Peni Parker (Kimiko Glenn), and Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) will also appear. The film will also include different Spider-Man villains, such as the Kingpin (Liev Schreiber) and the Prowler (Mahershala Ali).

Sony Pictures have now given fans a closer look at six of the Into the Spider-Verse characters in the form of character posters. The two main characters in the film, Miles Morales and Peter Parker, have gotten their own posters, as well as Spider-Gwen, Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Ham, and Peni Parker. All six of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse posters can be seen below.

What’s unique about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is that it won’t connect to the live-action Spider-Man films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As of right now, Sony’s Spider-Man movies are separate from the MCU. However, the post-credits scene for Venom features a clip from Into the Spider-Verse, teasing the possibility that the two movies take place within the same multiverse. That being said, with the success of Venom, it’s more unlikely Tom Holland and Tom Hardy will cross paths onscreen in the near future.

As for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the film will be directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, from a story by Phil Lord. The studio is also responsible for bringing the Hotel Transylvania, Smurfs, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, series to the big screen. With the current popularity of Spider-Man and the unique story Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse promises, Sony could potentially have another home-run on their hands, especially since the film’s crew has a succesful history in animation, and the film is coming out during the prime holiday season.
