Middlesbrough are close to finalising the signing of Yannick Bolasie from Everton on loan for the rest of the season.

Bolasie has travelled to Teesside for face-to-face talks with Boro manager Tony Pulis and his capture would be a major coup for the Championship leaders.

The winger had attracted interest from both Burnley and Crystal Palace towards the end of the transfer window, but a deal could not be agreed for him to remain in the Premier League.

However, Championship clubs are still able to sign players on loan until the end of this month and Boro refused to give up on their chase, even though they were initially knocked back when they tried to sign him permanently for £15m.

That has helped persuade the 29-year-old to drop down a division and Boro are confident they will be able to complete the signing before their next game against West Bromwich Albion on Friday night.
