    1. Burberry gets a makeover
    The British brand has changed its logo and introduced a new monogram after two decades. As part of a major rebrand under Riccardo Tisci, iconic graphic designer and art director Peter Saville was given less than four weeks for this new look. Saville is also responsible for Calvin Klein’s 2017 logo refresh, which similar to Burberry’s new style went minimalist, all-caps and sans serif.

     

    2. Beyoncé lands Vogue cover
    “I think it’s important for women and men to see and appreciate the beauty in their natural bodies. That’s why I stripped away the wigs and hair extensions and used little makeup for this shoot,” Beyoncé said of the Vogue cover shoot. Her fourth gracing of magazine’s front page is also historic as it was shot by 23-year-old Tyler Mitchell, a rising young black photographer from Atlanta, hand-selected by the star.

    3. Prada Silver Line arrives in Singapore
    The Prada Silver Line, the shiny reconstruction of a portion of a train reminiscent of the American Streamliners of the ’30s and ’50s, rolled into Paragon. The new itinerant pop-up project is dedicated to travel, offering customers the chance to acquire exclusive products different for each leg of the journey. Singaporeans get to pick up fun pins to customise bucket hats, backpacks and fanny packs. Available till 22 August.

     

    4. Crazy Rich Asians premieres in Los Angeles
    Singaporean actors weren’t the only one represented on the red carpet of Crazy Rich Asians. Henry Golding may have been dressed in Tom Ford, but Constance Lau wore Time Taken to Make a Dress, Janice Koh wore Ong Shunmugam, Selena Tan wore Frederick Lee Couture and Tan Kheng Hua wore Thomas Wee.     5. Origins of controversial accessories brand Ivory Lane revealed
    WWF Singapore is the mastermind behind Ivory Lane, a fake online store set up to highlight the ivory trade problems in Singapore. Explaining the elaborate campaign, Chief Executive Officer of WWF Singapore Elaine Tan said, “It is not easy to understand wildlife laws and what is legal and not, a reality that is often misused by illegal traders. The general uncertainty leads to illicit wildlife trade hiding in plain sight. We set up the online shop, Ivory Lane, on the same legal premise that the real ivory traders use to operate in Singapore.” Read the full story here.

      The ‘Back To You’ singer, who has been the face for Coach since 2016, has been working on a ready-to-wear collection that will debut at the end of this month. From her post, we’d say pre-order the versatile slip dress stat.

       

        7. Stella McCartney finally speaks on designing for the royal wedding
        “I think Meghan chose me for reasons other than just a beautiful dress — plenty of people can do that. She is not a difficult client to make look beautiful. Amal called me and asked me to do it, as did Oprah. I look at that Amal dress, and it is made of sustainable viscose that took us three years to develop. And I think, obviously I am a British designer, but I think being a woman and being a women’s woman played a part. They are all women’s women. It’s a big deal,” Stella McCartney said to Elle magazine.
