The next time you find yourself lost somewhere in Bras Basah, with nowhere to rest your aching feet, consider Lowe’f, a new cozy cafe that serves sandwiches, pastries, cakes, and coffees.
It’s not one of those tired themed spots that thrive on trends, neither does it scream “please enter” to all who pass by — but it is a modest, hidden space where you can sit down for a meal and chill without being interrupted by phone photographers trying to get that Insta-worthy shot.
Lowe’f, pronounced as “loaf”, is owned by a couple with a love for baking, and it celebrates the goodness of carbs by whipping up batches of bread, cakes, and pastries at its open concept kitchen.
Light bites include the mushroom forest soup ($6.50-$8.50) and the chicken salad topped with breadcrumbs ($9.50), but if you’re in the mood for something meaty and hearty, browse through the sandwich options.
Suggested signatures include the breakfast Good Morning Burger ($7.50), made with layers of free-range scrambled eggs, orange cheddar, pickled shallots, and coffee mayo in between brioche buns; the citrus salmon sandwich ($15) with avocado, edamame, ikura, and crispy salmon skin; or the salted beef brisket sandwich ($16) with dollops of Dijon mustard and pickles.
Meat-free options also come in the form of the grilled cheddar cheese sandwich ($13) and the purple cabbage sandwich ($11), and you can end off your meal with sips of coffee made with beans roasted by Prodigal Roasters.
Lowe’f is at 1 Queen St.
8767-4859. Mon-Fri 8pm-6pm, Sat 8:30am-6pm.
