Prince Charles will walk Meghan Markle down the aisle tomorrow, Kensington Palace has announced.
A statement from the palace read: “Ms. Meghan Markle has asked His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales to accompany her down the aisle of the Quire of St George’s Chapel on her Wedding Day.
“The Prince of Wales is pleased to be able to welcome Ms. Markle to The Royal Family in this way.”
This week, Meghan was hit with the devastating news that her father will not be attending, with less than two days to go until her big day.
The bride was left with a gaping hole in her wedding party and a last minute decision to make.
Traditionally, it is the bride’s father who walks his daughter down the aisle and presents her to the groom.
But yesterday morning Kensington Palace released a statement from the former actress at shortly before 11.30am revealing Thomas Markle Snr would not be attending as he recovers from a heart scare.
It also followed a furore after he was caught setting up his own staged paparazzi photos.
The statement read: “Sadly my father will not be attending our wedding.
“I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.
“I would like to than everyone who has offered generous messages of support.
“Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
The statement was pointedly issued on her behalf – and not on behalf of Meghan and Prince Harry.
Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland was tipped to step in and accompany her daughter down the aisle instead.
But others thought Prince Harry’s dad should do the honours.
