Does it ever just feel like people in coastal towns get all the good things in life? Not only do they get day trips to the beach, they’re also in a prime spot to earn a quick buck from visitors hoping to do the same. According to average nightly Airbnb rates collected by Homes.com, East Coast hosts can stand to earn the most by renting out their spaces.
Bridgeport, Connecticut takes the top spot, where hosts can expect to bring in about $246 per night. Hosts in other spots along the Atlantic, including Virginia Beach and Charleston, can also rake in a decent amount, especially with vacation season around the corner. Just three cities west of the Mississippi make the list, all in California.

6. Cape Coral, Florida: $190

9. Jacksonville, Florida: $186
10. San Bernardino, California: $185
Beach town or not, renting your place out on Airbnb was the most profitable side hustle, according to Earnest data, with hosts making an average of $924 per month. A stellar 10% said they made $2,000 or more per month.

Give a warm welcome. Even if you’re not physically present to greet your guests, make sure your place is accommodating from the start. Small touches can make a big impression. “I make it a point to have their towels and washcloths out, and I always have beer, wine and Champagne in my kitchen,” says Airbnb Superhost Ed Devlin.
