JOHOR BARU, Feb 14 — A 32-year-old security guard found himself on the wrong side of the law after he barred a Johor police contingent senior officer from his own residence at Taman Nusa Idaman here yesterday evening.

The apparent overzealous action by the security guard also created a minor commotion outside the guard post of the residential area despite repeated attempts by the police officer and his driver to allow his official car to enter.

The 7.15pm incident unfolded when the senior officer, who holds the rank of superintendent, was being driven home by his driver.

The Malay Mail learnt that officer was in his official Proton Preve bearing the Royal Malaysian Police markings on the side.

A police source said the driver had earlier introduced himself as a policeman to the security guard and explained that he was on official duty and sending his superior officer back home.

“However, the security guard was adamant in not letting the duo in despite repeated attempts, including by the senior police officer who told the guard that he was the house owner,” said the source.

Having left with no choice the driver then called for police assistance from the Bukit Indah police station.

“Three policemen who were on their rounds went to the guard post and the security guard was apprehended and brought to the Bukit Indah police station for investigation,” said the source.

The security guard was detained under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from discharging his duties.

“Police also conducted a urine test on the suspect for suspected drug abuse, but the suspect’s sample came out negative,” said the source.
