Expect afternoon thundery showers and warm weather of up to as high as 34°C during the Chinese New Year holiday period, said the National Environment Agency (NEA) in a press release on Wednesday (14 February).

Short-duration thundery showers – as a result of strong day-time heating of land areas and convergence of winds – are expected mainly in the afternoon on six to eight days during the second half of this month.

On some of these days, the showers may extend into the evening, said the NEA.

Weather is also expected to be warmer than the first half of the month, where the daily maximum temperature can reach as high as around 34°C.

On most days, however,  the daily maximum temperature is forecast to be around 32°C or 33°C while the daily minimum temperature is expected to range between 23°C and 24°C.

“The prevailing Northeast Monsoon conditions over Singapore and the region will continue to persist and extend into early March 2018. During this period, the low-level winds are forecast to blow predominantly from the northeast or northwest,” added the NEA.
