You can find virtually any kind of cuisine in the world right here in Singapore. We’ve got everything from conveyor belt sushi, Korean bingsu and Thai milk tea to Spanish tapas, Caribbean food and Hungarian goulash.
But sometimes, all you want is Chinese food, plain and simple.
Thanks to The Entertainer mobile app, you can now enjoy Chinese cuisine at half price, thanks to their 1-for-1 mains offer.
Here are four Chinese restaurants to try at a discount thanks to the Entertainer.
Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant
320 Orchard Road, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel
Phone: 6831 4605
Despite its generic-sounding name, Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant is actually one of Singapore’s top Cantonese restaurants and has won awards.
Located at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel, the restaurant offers Cantonese favourites such as braised lobster and braised beef short-rib, executed to perfection.
Of course, the food doesn’t come cheap, but with The Entertainer, you enjoy 1-for-1 mains, so don’t be afraid to go for the roast duck, which ordinarily costs $80, or the stir-fried scallop, prawn and celery with black truffle sauce, which usually costs $42/$63/$84 for a small/medium/large portion.
Szechuan Court & Kitchen
2 Stamford Road Level 3 Fairmont Singapore
Tel: 6431 6156
Szechuan Court & Kitchen is yet another top Chinese restaurant located at a posh hotel. The restaurant specialises in Szechuan and Cantonese food.
Of course, it is not cheap, but thanks to the Entertainer you enjoy 1-for-1 mains, so go ahead and order the crispy prawn mousse pancake with shredded yam in champagne sauce, which usually costs $40, or the claypot roasted pork belly with braised sea cucumber in oriental sauce, which normally costs $56.
Wanton, Seng’s Noodle Bar
52 Amoy Street
Phone: 6221 1336
Any Singaporean worth his salt has a list of favourite wanton noodle stalls.
Well, Wanton at Amoy Street, which is helmed by the man behind the famous Seng’s Wanton Mee at Dunman Food Centre, is a worthy addition to the list.
The rather hipsterish décor hints at their modern take on the traditional wanton noodle dish, with side dishes like roasted Spanish pork belly.
Still, prices are very reasonable, with most of the noodle bowls on their lunch menu costing under $9. With the Entertainer’s 1-for-1 deal, you can knock the cost of your meal to hawker centre prices.
10 Sinaran Drive #01-22
Phone: 6358 3989
Alati’s meat skewers might make you think satay, but these sticks of grilled lamb are actually prepared in the Xinjiang style—yes, that’s the Uygur autonomous region in Northeastern China which borders Mongolia and Kazakhstan.
With The Entertainer, you get to enjoy 1-for-1 sets of three skewers (usual price about $5), as well as six skewers (usual price about $11).
