When it comes to employee satisfaction, it’s not just the perks that keep people happy. At Facebook, which was ranked first on Glassdoor‘s list of 100 best places to work in 2018, staffers said they appreciated the unique career opportunities and the company’s transparency.
Facebook earned the top spot on Glassdoor’s list for the third year, despite recent controversies including a lackluster diversity report and revelations that Russian operatives used the platform to spread divisive messages during the 2016 Presidential campaign. However, staffers wrote on Glassdoor that they were grateful for the firm’s strong leadership and the option to transfer teams or grow in one. Currently, there are 2,300 Facebook jobs listed on Glassdoor.
Glassdoor released the list on Tuesday and based the ranking on employees’ reviews of their workplaces. The site allows current and former staffers to anonymously review companies and their management. While Silicon Valley firms made the list, health companies, retailers and food and beverage businesses also made the cut.
Google came in fifth place, while famed fast food chain In-N-Out Burger earned the fourth spot this year. Additionally, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital took the ninth spot after employees touted the positive atmosphere and leadership.
