McDonald’s Singapore discontinues Quarter Pounder with Cheese, to replace with ‘similar burger’

McDonald’s Singapore has discontinued the “Quarter Pounder with Cheese” burger on 6 December and will replace it with another item called “The Original Angus”.

The latest update by the fast food chain surfaced on social media after a customer posted on the company’s Facebook page on Monday (4 Dec), expressing disappointment that his presumably favourite burger was no longer available, two days ahead of the official date for the burger’s last day of sale.

The post had a photo of a flyer by McDonald’s Singapore promoting a discount for the purchase of every meal of its upcoming food item.

In a reply to the disgruntled customer Tommy Low, the company said, “Hi Tommy, thanks for your inquiry. We have discontinued the Quarter Pounder with Cheese. This is because we will soon be introducing a similar burger with 100% Angus Beef – and hope you will give it a try soon .”

Unfortunately, their reply did little to console Low, who said that he had tasted McDonald’s Angus meat before and was not satisfied.

“Not really that fantastic and more expensive… Will probably patronise McDonald’s less since my favourite burger no longer available.”
