This shophouse barbershop borrows its name from the historic Jermyn Street in London, which is known for its gentlemen shops dedicated to British artistry and craftsmanship. Some have even served British royalty for centuries. Not that this local version’s all serious and sombre. Its interiors are bright – almost art gallery-like – and supplemented with red chesterfield sofas and natural sunlight streaming in from a glass-walled courtyard.

A team of five, led by Steve Chapman, is in charge of all the grooming tricks. For early risers looking to fuel and sharpen up before heading to work, Jermyn Street’s Breakfast Club, on Wednesdays at 7am, doles out locally roasted coffee and pastries from Shop Wonderland (for free!) with any treatment.

Dapper Duke ($65). This wash, cut and style is Jermyn Street’s most popular service. (Fun fact: each treatment is named after the ranks of the British nobility system to reflect the royal connections of Jermyn Street.) A speedier service, sans wash, is the Rakish Marquess ($55) – just come without products in your mane. Signature shaves and beard trims, which include cleansing, exfoliation and toning, are priced at $70 and $35 to $50, respectively.
